Self-binding baby blanket (revised) with Jim Culley (at A Quilter’s Oasis).

Self Binding Baby Blanket

Supply List:
Bring your machine, sewing supplies and thread in bright or pastel colors for sewing the binding to the front.
Also, a Walking foot for your sewing machine, if you have it.
I have flannel and will cut a few to work on, but will still have some to practice cutting the mitered corners. I am working on blankets for Maggie’s House. Maggie’s House is for homeless/abused women and children and expectant mothers. My church will be collecting items later in January. I have made some for them before. Please assist if you can.

Jim’s tip: If you want a 40″ piece, fold your fabric into quarters, and cut with a 20″ ruler (lining up the ruler sides with the fabric folds).
You can then cut all four corners at 45 deg at the same time (cut only on the 2 open corners).

PJ’s in the Hoop: Frosty the Star Man Table Topper with Jim Culley (at La Hacienda RV Resort).

There are 4 design files used to create and join the 5 star sections completely in the hoop, so there is no additional sewing required for the hanging or the topper. If you choose to do the pillow, you would complete the entire pillow front in the hoop and then sew on the back. The design files come in 2 sizes, both for the 6×10 hoop (finished size 19 inches across) and the 7×12 hoop (finished size 22 inches across). The sections are stitched on batting and feature channel quilting that aligns for a chevron effect when the sections are joined with decorative stitching, as well as endearing accents–even eyelets for his boot laces! My favorite part was embellishing my new friend after the stitching was finished. I used pompoms and a whimsical fleece scarf, but you are limited only by your imagination. PJ’s In the Hoop is distributed by Anita Goodesign.

Hoop sizes 6” x 10” to 9.5” x 14”
Retails for $34.95

Please let Jim Culley know if you would plan on making this project:  jcphxasg@gmail.com

He will need a count by the June meeting of those that want to do the project.
Three individuals indicated that they would be doing the Frosty the Starman embroidery at the meeting on July 11th.

I just had a call from Mulqueen’s in Mesa and the Discs from Anita Goodesign have arrived. Go to the front “will call” desk and pick one up before the meeting. You will need to cut the fabrics before the meeting.
