Community Service News

What a generous community of sewers we have in the American Sewing Guild. For the year of 2009 the Phoenix chapter has created and donated 5644 items. These are the ones I have been privileged to document. I know there are many more items being made and given away amongst us. We concluded the spring “contest” and kept right on sewing. Items sewn and donated include Christmas Stockings, baby blankets, nap quilts, fidget quilts, small huggie quilts, pillowcases, domestic violence bags or backpacks for foster kids, preemie gowns and preemie knit caps and booties, Operation Care military bags, knit hats and rag dolls for the military in Afghanistan, walker bags, and doll clothes. I also know many sew back to school clothes for the valley programs as well. Wow! Sewing is happiness and giving returns happiness. What a great way to feel doubly good.

Regardless of where your heart reaches out to, do so gladly and reap the “thank you” in knowing you made a difference to someone.
Just a reminder that the national project is Operation Care Package. These are bags for the military. The drawstring bag pattern in on the ASG website community service page or
