From now until July 1st, Phoenix ASG would like you to make pillow cases for Ronald McDonald House that will be taken by Charlotte to National Convention as our contribution to the National spotlighted charity this year. Since the “contest” generated such an increased interest in projects a new approach to recognizing outstanding achievements in the area of community service work will be implemented. This next 12 months, beginning July 1st will be divided into 4, three month quarters. Each quarter two or more of our community service projects will be highlighted for recognition
purposes. Items turned in with the community service donation sheet and that meet the outlined specifications will be awarded points. Also remember to put in your ASG tag into every item except stockings.

Recognitions in the new approach will be on an individual level. There will be 2 types of recognitions - See page 7 for the

Community Service Highlighted Projects.

A) Excellence in Community Service Award – Each month, one individual in each neighborhood group earning the most points for items in the highlighted community service projects will be awarded the Excellence In Community Service Award. This will be a certificate or button and an entry into a drawing at the end of the completion of 12 months (June 30, 2010) for an ASG paid membership. There will be only (1) membership awarded for the programs 12 month duration.

B) Community Service Diva Award – Each quarter, the individual with the most accumulated points earned for items in the highlighted community service projects will be awarded the Community Service Diva Award. This will be a certificate or button and a paid ASG membership. Per chance a tie results in any quarter, there will be a drawing to determine the Diva Award for that quarter. A member can only achieve (1) membership in the programs 12 month period. There will be a total of (4) memberships awarded, one per quarter, for the programs 12 month duration.

The first quarter of Community Service Highlighted Projects can be reviewed in the box with specifications. But as a reminder, a member can make and turn in any of his or her favorite community service projects at all times but only the quarters highlighted projects will be counted for the recognitions.

New Needs:
Announcing new needs brought to our attention. First the Crisis Nursery, which is part of the Head Start program and is designed to stop abuse and neglect. It is a preschool for 12 months to 5 years old. They have a few needs for their classrooms. These needs are costumes for dress-up play and make believe, doll cloths and doll diapers (for teaching caring and nurturing), and bean bags in neutral tones but of different textures. On the web I will but more specific details for each need. Also, CPS is in need of Domestic Violence Bags, the pillow case drawstring bas with duffle or backpack straps for foster kids. I will have specifications on the web or contact me and I will mail you details.
