This is meant to be a resource for doll measurements, free doll patterns, YouTube videos, tutorials, doll-sized machine embroidery designs, etc. to help those making items for the American Girl Doll raffle for the ASG booth at the Rusty Barn Show.
18 Inch American Girl Doll Measurements
These are the dimensions for the newer American Girl Doll, clothes need to be a little bit bigger to make it easier to get them on and off, and for play movement. Older models may be larger in the chest and waist, hence the "up to 11".
Chest: 10-3/4" - 11"
Waist: 10" - 11"
Upper thigh circumference: 6-1/8"
Leg Calf circumference: 5-3/8"
Upper leg to ankle length: 7"
Inner leg to ankle length: 6-1/8"
Arm circumference: 4-1/4"
Arm length from shoulder to wrist: 5-1/4"
Shoulder width: 4-1/2"
All Simplicity, McCalls, & Vogue patterns should fit most 18 inch dolls.
Foe patterns by Joan Hinds (from her books); the pant legs are too snug for newer AG dolls, so they need to be made wider.

Want a pattern for an Army Combat Uniform?:
Rings: I used scrapbooking brads. They come in pastel and royal colors sets. Each brad has a bezeled jewel on top the brad. You can also find them at Michael's, and other stores that sell scrapbooking supplies.
I found that a size 10-1/2 knitting needle (6.5 mm) makes the perfect ring sizer for the dolls. Open up the brad, wrap it around the knitting needle. Use pliers, or a flat surface to help flatten the sides.
