REQUIREMENTS FOR ADVISORY BOARD POSITIONS

 

Chapter President (by member election):

The President’s membership is paid for by the national ASG board for 1 year. 

● Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing

● Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year

● Be able to use the computer; send and receive emails

● Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members

● Oversee the running of the chapter

● Coordinate correspondence to and from national ASG board

● Set agenda for CAB meetings

● Set up venue for annual meeting 

 

 

Perk: for the following positions, the member dues is paid by the chapter while serving.

 

Chapter Secretary (by election)

● Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing

● Be able to use the computer; send and receive emails

● Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online

● Take notes at the CAB meetings

● Publish and provide minutes to CAB members and Neighborhood Group Leaders

 

Chapter Treasurer (by election)

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Be able to use the computer; send and receive emails
  • Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members
  • Oversee all money coming into and going out of the chapter, and know how to reconcile bank statements for Website (PayPal), GroupWorks (Square), checking, savings, Visa Credit Card
  • Prefer using QuickBooks Pro Online for reconciling all monthly bank statements and creating financial reports, but other methods will be considered.
  • Submit quarterly reports to National ASG board
  • Prepare and follow Budget

 

The following position are by appointment of the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB)

 

Newsletter Editor

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Be familiar with using the computer
  • Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members
  • Must know, or be willing to learn, how to use Publisher or Word (the Phoenix ASG does have a copy of Publisher 2010 for the current acting newsletter editor to use, if they don’t have it already).
  • Be able to send out emails to all the ASG members notifying them of events/classes. Computer available for the Newsletter Editor)

 Webmaster 

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Have a computer, and know how to use it
  • Must know, or be willing to learn, how to use Jimdo to keep website updated.
  • Coordinates with the Newsletter Editor for updating the website

 Membership

  • ASG membership paid by Phoenix Chapter Board while serving. 
  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Be familiar with using the computer
  • Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members
  • Familiarity with Excel and Word
  • Mail Merge and use of Macros an advantage
  • Will train and backup until confident with system 

Neighborhood Group Leader Coordinator 

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Be willing and able to travel to every neighborhood group meeting as needed
  • Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members

 

Vice President

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Be able to step in for the President, if the need arises
  • Must know, or be willing to learn GroupWorks to communicate with members

 

Retail Liaison 

  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • Attend 10 out of 12 board meetings per year - in-person or Online
  • Contact retailers in the area for advertisements
  • Coordinates with the Newsletter Editor to provide current Ads

 

Rusty Barn Event Coordinator 

     Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing

     Work with the Rusty Barn Show people to schedule booth for the show

     Be able to schedule people to work the ASG booth

     Able to securely handle money

 

Community Service Coordinator 

     Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing

     Take the initiative to contact Organizations to see what they need made for their community.

     Coordinate donation deliveries between sewists and Charitable Organizations

 

 

Volunteer Positions

  • Neighborhood Group Leader (committee volunteer)
  • Be a Phoenix ASG member in good standing
  • A desire to lead and encourage others in the neighborhood group
  • Coordinates with NG Coordinator, and Newsletter Editor
